Douglas Herron Pearson established The Pearson Law Firm in 2015 in Hendersonville, NC after more than 15 years of experience as a trial attorney. Mr. Pearson has extensive experience in criminal law, prosecuting at all levels from misdemeanors to murder. His hundreds of jury trials include DWI, DUI, drug trafficking, white-collar crimes, insurance fraud, arson, and murder.
Mr. Pearson grew up in Morganton, North Carolina before attending the McCallie School in Chattanooga, TN. He majored in English at Appalachian State University and went on to earn his law degree at the Oklahoma City University School of Law.
His law practice began in Eastern North Carolina. He was an Assistant District Attorney in the 4th Prosecutorial District from 1999 until 2004 at which time he transferred to the 29th Prosecutorial District, continuing as an Assistant District Attorney until 2005. Mr. Pearson then entered private practice with an estate planning firm in Asheville. In 2007, the elected District Attorney asked him to return to the D.A.’s office and focus on superior court jury trials in Transylvania, Henderson, and Polk Counties. He was appointed by Governor Pat McCrory as Acting District Attorney on May 15, 2013. He has also had the honor of being appointed as a special prosecutor in counties outside his home district.
Mr. Pearson has attended, and later assisted in the curriculum development for, the Arson Training for Prosecutors course presented by The Bureau for Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). Mr. Pearson has been an expert speaker at the North Carolina Insurance Crime Information Exchange Conference. He has served as a member of the Arson Task Force in both the 4th and 29th districts, on the Henderson County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, and Child Fatality Prevention Task Force.
Sarah Alholm Pearson keeps the office operations running smoothly at The Pearson Law Firm. It is her goal for you to have excellent customer service. Before working with Attorney Doug Pearson, Sarah worked in Healthcare Safety Consulting, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Quality Control, and Aerospace Physiology. She graduated with a Bachelor's in Biology from the United States Air Force Academy and holds a Master's in Human Factors from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
